Hi, I’m Amanda Wondergem
a Product Designer based in Calgary, Alberta
Start with why
I start projects by understanding why a problem matters, why it’s coming up now and who it impacts. I ask a lot of questions to get a clearer picture of the problem space, the users and what we’re actually trying to achieve as a team. Taking the time to do this helps me build empathy and gives me a clearer sense of direction, so I’m working toward something meaningful.

Articulating design decisions
I like to approach design by getting feedback from stakeholders and users early in the process to validate my decisions. After reading Articulating Design Decisions by Tom Greever, I started thinking more intentionally about how I explain my work and the reasoning behind it. It’s pushed me to be clearer and more concise, and to tailor how I communicate decisions so they resonate with different stakeholders and lead to better alignment
Bringing structure to complexity
I’m a big advocate for process and documentation, not to make things rigid, but to bring more clarity. I think a lot about how to organize information, define flows and create shared understanding across teams. Having that structure helps reduce ambiguity so teams can make decisions and move forward with more confidence.
